Description:

Who says serious art has to be serious?! Join Dr. Hannah for a subject about which she’s passionate (and wrote her dissertation), and see how this key human quality plays out in art. We’ll travel through time and cultures examining four case studies on the complex and amusing intersections of art and humor. We’ll also consider theories of humor along the way.

Course topics (subject to change):

Ancient Roman bathroom mosaics, American genre paintings, Dada, Conceptual art

Course requirements:

  • Reliable internet connection.

  • Ability to log onto Zoom in order to watch, listen to, and participate in live lecture sessions.

Strongly recommended: Computer webcam and microphone to optimize class participation.
